The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Monitor & compare specific lines of content on multiple websites?

Asked by mtdanielson in Miscellaneous Web Development

Hello,

I currently monitor about 45 IP devices that run a customized version of WinCE, each of which have a web server and basic administrative website console.  They function as time clocks, for a automated time and attendance program.

Each of these devices has a date/time, used to stamp when an employee comes or leaves work, but they are not automatically updated.

What I am looking for: a method in which to monitor all the date and time stamps from each device on a single page/screen/app.  I'm not limited to web based or 32bit application...I just need something to get the job done.

While the solution, ideally, would be able to compare the collected date/time stamp from each web page, compare it to a local system date/time, then flag the ones that are out of spec (a parameter defined by me) - this isn't a requirement...I'll settle just for listing, and go through by hand.

I don't know a lot about how the page in rendered - I do know that if I view the source of the page, the content is written into the page; it isn't a parameter...the content appears as follows, and is static, relative to the rest of the page, on each reload:

<hr>
<font face="Arial" size="2"><b>Time/Date</b><br/></font>
<font face="Arial" size="1"><b>Time:</b> 08:59:17 Central Daylight Time</br><b>Date:</b> 03/23/2005</font>
<hr>

Oh yea - each individual device does require authentication before it allows you to access the content.

So...what do you recommend as a solution for this monitoring problem?

Thanks!
