the company standard here in the UK is still perl... PHP is the favourite to replace this, as you said theres a lot of job offers for this programming language. I really dont think PHP will be going anywhere soon, afterall many big companies are based on unix variant systems ie. amazon, google etc... so i think its definately worth having a look at. afterall, if you have one serverside language under your belt, the second one will be easier to learn as many concepts are the same
