With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? This is one part of a two part question, both to do with taking plain source code (in a specified language) and outputting it nicely to HTML.

What I'd like suggestions for in this question are methods that I can output things like above. Dont worry about the actual syntax detection - that's the other question (in another thread): http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Dot_Net/ASP_DOT_NET/Q_21710337.html

What's my best options for doing something like this?

If the line is too long for the box, I would like a scroll bar to pop up and for it to not break the page =)
I dont think a table is good because people would highlight the numbers.
A OL could work well I just dont quite know where to start on this... Especially with the scrolling...
