Question
Client-Side Data Retrieval/Scrape Possible?
I need to create a system which scrapes data from another site on the client-side (legal reasons).
I guess the usual reaction would be "do it in Java", but I was hoping to do this as a web app - so JavaScript springs to mind and I suppose a Java applet might be able to do it too, but I have less experience than I'd like before starting this project.
Any general thoughts will be appreciated and I will distribute points to the useful ones.
If I had to put forward a specific question it would be "What's the best way to retrieve data from the client side?"

You can use Web Services to retrieve data from the client side on the web.Both .net and Java suport Web Services.I don't know about Java but it is really handy in .Net.You can write a basic Web Service in just a few minutes.
