Microsoft, Windows SharePoint Services, 3.0, WSS 3.0 Forms Based Auth & Explorer View
I am trying to have a SharePoint site that uses Forms Based Authentication (FBA) available via the internet that allows me to access documents in a library using Explorer View. Microsoft says it is not supported but there are work arounds... I have yet to find any? Anyone have an idea?
You can change the default view to explorer view. In your document library ensure you are signed in as a site owner and Select Settings > Document Library Settings > Under Views Select Explorer view > Place a check in the box Make this the default view (applies to public views only) > Select OK. Now your library will open in explorer view by default
We have implemented this. However, now from the document library when we select Actions - > Open with Windows Explorer we get two login prompts. The first is a Windows prompt; the other is for basic authentication. After I select cancel on the windows prompt the explorer view does open using FrontPage RPC. I have however followed the advice and have added the registry key that allows webdav to use basic auth. Any thoughts on why we get this Windows prompt? Thanks,
