The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Displaying contents from MySQL database in show/hide div tags

Asked by sal-ee in PHP and Databases, MySQL Server

Tags: ,

Hi everyone,

Looking at the URL I have submitted, you can see that I have managed to retrieve the poem titles beginning with the letter selected from the array.

The query is: $query="SELECT PoemTitle, PoemText FROM tblPoems WHERE PoemTitle LIKE '".$letter."%' ORDER BY PoemTitle";

$letter is appended to the URL when a letter is clicked.

As you can see, this is working fine for letters A-Z.

I have 2 issues:

1) I can't seem to get the hash/number (#)  sign to work. There are poems that begin with numbers, e.g. 3am, and I want to list those under the "#" sign.

2) I don't know if I can ask about a second problem on the same question but here it goes. If you click on one of the poem titles on the page, you will see the top one expand (obviously I want the one clicked on to expand!). I am using a div tag to do this as I want to be able to show and hide each poem when it is clicked.

However, this seems rather tedious as I will need to create a div with an ID for each poem. Can anyone think of a better way in PHP to do this?

On the web page, the other poems do not show/hide as I have only done it for one, which only works for the first poem listed. I gave up thinking, "there's gotta be a better way to do this!".

I have attached the code snippet for this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will explain more if needed.
