Question

Google: Turning off most visited sites ranking higher

Asked by: weikelbob

Hello,

I am noticing lately that the sites I visit the most are showing up on the first 5-10 results.

How do I turn this feature off? I don't want my results skewed when analyzing for SEO. I want my Google results to look like everyone elses.

It seems to happen in both IE and FF

Thank you.

Hello weikelbob,

Big Brother is watching you with cookies :

You are correct.

However, this isn't working very well.

If I block cookies from Google.com, gmail doesn't work.

If I have FF ask me about cookies every time, I get tons of popups with google and gmail.

Any ideas?

A bad idea only : delete your cookies at browser startup allocate zero bytes to retain cookies.

Regards.

Will that erase all of my passwords?

by: leakim971Posted on 2009-09-22 at 10:31:11ID: 25395301

Yes this is why it's a bad idea... Another idea, not tested, found the right cookie file and set it as read only or why not the folder...

Regards.

You should logout of your Google Account or gmail account when you are searching. If you are logged in, it will show only personalized results.

If you want to keep your gmail open and still want to search in google, keep you gmail open in one browser and google search in another browser.
