Browse All TopicsI use CS4 and am very happy with the package however when I try to import a file using Myriad-Pro-Light it says the font is missing "font not found on the system"
Any ideas on how to fix without having to re-install CS4?

In Photoshop, the font will always display, because it's captured as an image if it cannot be edited (although usually there is a warning on open, but it may not be clearly specific to the fonts issue).
Have you checked to see if Myriad Pro Light shows in other applications? Or have you attempted to locate and install it from the CS4 Install files (CDs)?
Pretty much in line with LH's comment:
There is also the possibility that the fonta is similar inj name to the Myriad that you have installed but still a different font.
If the file was supplied to you by somebody else then this is entirely likely.
Have you checked your font folder whether the file is present and if this is indeed the Myriad pro that you encounter in this error.
If you OK the warning, does it default to another font and can you select a Myriad from the list?
capt.
While viruses can cause problems with fonts, they are VERY rarely direct targets, so unless you are seeing a lot of other random file issues, I doubt that's the problem. Fonts do get corrupted from time to time by random happenings on the HD or during open/close processes.
Here's a list from Adobe of the fonts included in InDesign CS4, which shows clearly the fonts that are installed and the other fonts that are available but not routinely installed. There's also a question discussing similar problems with various upgrade routes (although IMHO the Adobe staffer did not really address that concern).

Here's the link Adobe gives for installing their fonts off the CD:

TonyCabone,
Presumably you had the font on your system before? First of all, check and see if it shows in other programs. If not, you should be able to install it off your CS4 disk (unlike some previous versions of Illustrator, Myriad Pro Light is NOT installed by default when CS4 is installed, but it IS present among the install files). You shouldn't have to re-install CS4 to do this, just find the font files and install what you want.
Cheers,
