extract bookmarks from .pdf - java

Hi , How do i extract the bookmarks from the .pdf files. I need some java programming solution & no 3rd part tools. Any API or java code is appreciated . Urgent Help needed

You can use itext (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) this way:

PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(inFiles[i]);
reader.consolidateNamedDestinations();
int nbPages = reader.getNumberOfPages();
if (nbPages > 0) {
      List bookmarks = SimpleBookmark.getBookmark(reader);
      if (bookmarks != null) {

Unfortunately, I guess you will have to go with some 3rd party tool as Java does not have direct in-built support for PDF. You can use any of the APIs here:

Open source - http://java-source.net/open-source/pdf-libraries

Commercial and open-source - http://schmidt.devlib.org/java/libraries-pdf.html

I have used pdfbox and kind of getting  close to my requirement.I'd appreciate all your responses.
