The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Adobe Creative sute 2.3 fails to embed Serial Nos for golive and indesign in Windows 2000

Asked by RichardMarchant in Adobe GoLive HTML Editor, Adobe InDesign Publishing Software, Web Graphics Software

I recently purchased Adobe Creative suite 2.3 premium and installed it on my system. Whenever i try to open GoLive or InDesign i get the serial number input page which should not appear as they are embedded as part of the package.  I have gone through Adobe Tech support and every tech doc recommended on this with no success.
My system has evolved from Windows NT to Windows 2000 with Service pack 4 installed I am the main user as Administrator.  In Documents and Settings there are  4 Environments - Administrator, All users.WINNT, Default User ( hidden file), Default User.WINNT.
I am unable to remove the latter 2 and feel this i probbly the crux of the problem causing confusion on installation and this machine is on our business network. I have used the Cacls command  as recommended to change user rights for All users which is where the Creative suite is installed to.

I have laboriously removed every trace of Adobe in the registry  and installed files a number of times (following Tech sheets ) and reinstalled from a created intall file. I have repeated this in simplified mode as well.
I have installed on my system GoLive 6.0 and Illustrator 10.0, Acrobat 8.0 which i use. Although i had problems with Adobe updater plug-in  for Acrobat which showed that although parent files had administrator rights the child files did not. Once i changed permissions on the specific files the problem was solved.
This is purely a permissions and regisry key problem i feel.
There must be someone out there who can provide an elegant solution to this problem or at least a good work around.
