You mention "default database"... have you tried letting FP create a new database? From the form properties dialog.
No ODBC is needed for this to work.

Browse All TopicsHi, I have a created an asp form page that sends to an access database, all hosted on win2k server with fp extensions. odbc is set up for that database, which has only 3 fields other than primary key. When I view the asp page in browser, and then submit info, i get the "thank you" page which shows my info. But the access database never gets updated. I even tried using the default database created with frontpage and get the same problem. So it seems to me the code is ok, just something to do with the connection. ODBC I have set up System DSN to point to the database using MS Access driver. I have tried pointing the Frontpage form to the database as a file, and through the odbc. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem, and was able to fix it simply by verifying the database connection (Tools-Web Options) and recalculating hyperlinks. Sometimes the database connection is undone if you make a lot of changes to a database results region, so periodically verifying the database connection is a good idea.

YOU have a system DSN -- unless you're the server administrator and have set it up (highly unlikely) the web server DOESN'T.
This would be a really good time to start learning ASP. As you've found out, FP does a really BAD job of making database connections, and it gives you NO help on the requirements to actually make them work.
Besides that, there could be a zillion other things wrong with your form. Without seeing code, it's impossible to know (and since it's FP, even SEEING the code might not help).
