The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

FrontPage2003 - Recommendations for digital media solution

Asked by davidascott in FrontPage-Expressions

I currently run and manage a site for artists - www.dieselhousestudios.com  There is one limitation.  I do not have the knowledge or knowhow to publish short film clips OR interviews OR performance pieces (dance, poetry etc) which is an essential development phase that the site needs to go through. However, I do not want to deviate from a Front Page solution.

Would someone please recommend the best and easiest way to accomplish this task.

Importantly I am trying to;

1. Cater for differing connection speeds of the user
2. Have a continual flowing media stream (no jittery images)
3. Use a common platform for playback (or have a link, say to flash for the user to download)

There may be an add-in for example?
I have also 'heard' that Flash might be the route to go down?
Let me know if I need to upgrade my FrontPage version to allow for easier development

Please advise on;

1. Where I would need to go for any components/add-ins
2. Provide instructions and code for implementation from a 'test' page
3. If I would need to change any settings on FrontPage prior to publication
4. What format I should save my media clips in OR ask artists to send them to me in.
5. What is the best film quality that I could achieve for effective playback at all connection speeds i.e. quality vs. speed issues OR is there a generic solution that would achieve this for all speeds?

Treat me as a beginner in this area (also with coding), so I will need detailed instructions.

I am ultimately trying to have a very straight forward 'user experience' on the website where the use will be able to click on a link/image which will automatically upload/download streaming media in the 'best solution format' (which may by way of an example necessitate downloading, say, flash...but my reluctance is that whilst this may be a good solution, many people in the arts, or who are interested in the arts are reluctant to 'download' things like flash AND wouldn't have the know how or confidence to do this....a generalisation, but one I have formed after 20 years in the arts business)

I am therefore looking for the simplest user experience for my solution, which may mean a complicated task for me?!
