The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can't Set Write Permission to Sub Folders

Asked by alfardan in FrontPage-Expressions, Programming for ASP.NET

Tags: , ,

Hi

My website is on a shared-hosting plan with godaady.com. So it's not on its own dedicated server. Also, it has Frontpage extentions enabled for it. My website has an asp.net form that allow users to upload files to my site in a specified folder (a folder called "temp")

The thing is when I run the asp.net application to upload files, it gives me an error (see attachment: img2.JPG). Note that I use the regular know-through-the-net code of uploading files using asp.net technology, so I'm not using myown invented code of upload.

So I thought I should have set the permissions to that folder to allow WRITE access by my site visitors. However, you know that I don't have root access to the server that my site resides on because it's on a shared-hosted plan. So, I contacted godaddy.com and they told me that I can do those changes via frontpage. So I opened my site via frontpage and when I saw that "temp" folder in my Folder List view, I right-clicked on it to see if I do have the control to change its WRITE permissions, but what I got is that I can't (check attachment: img1.JPG). As you can see, "Allow Anonymous Upload to this directory" is disabled and I can't check it.
