How to link a share folder to sharepoint

Hi I am new to sharepoint and was wandering what was the best way to link a file that is located on a file share to the sharepoint server. I've tried googling for answers but cant seem to find any. hope someone can help me :)

ugh sharepoint; hard things to do are easy and the simple things are almost impossible :)

There are two options that i know of; both will only work with internet explorer... Also do not try to edit a sharepoint site in konquer/firefox/ etc... ; all sorts of issues happen...

On your web page; select site actions/edit page

add a links web part

use the following
file://sharedwindowsserver/sharedfolder/directory/blah/blah


or

add a page viewer webpart

Add the same link style as above:
file://sharedwindowsserver/sharedfolder/directory/blah/blah
