The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Urgent: Flash's loadMovie within Director

Asked by bkdc in Macromedia Director Video Editing Software

Tags: , , ,

OK, here's the problem:
I have a project (CD catalog) which I've done in Director 8.5.1 (supposed to work well with FlashMX). There's quite a big amount of data (text/images) so i've made my own "database engine" Xtra. I can't put all of them in the project, so they must be dynamic (external files).
The frontend is made in FlashMX while the logic is in Director. I load the data in Director then pass it to the Flash frontend. The flash is imported in Director with the "Direct to Stage" checked on, so there's no time penalties but I can't put any objects over the flash area (in fact everywhere, cause the flash matches the project dimensions).
Now, FlashMX's loadMovie supports loading images(JPEGs) (i've tested it and it works) but only when i play the swf file; once i import the flash in Director, loadMovie ceases to work without returning me any errors.

 So:
  1. i must be able to load & display external JPEGs
  2. i can't create an image object in Director and put it over the flash cause the flash uses "Direct to Stage"
  3. loadMovie does not work (my guess is there could be some "weird" security reasons for which Macromedia disabled this feature while a flash is playing in Director)
