The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

Embedding Shockwave for Director - Problems with older versions < V11

Asked by thomasmutton in Macromedia Director Video Editing Software, Macromedia Flash

Hi Guys,

I'm having a real problem embedding a shockwave file for director.

First off I have established that a new version of Shockwave player came out earlier this year 2008 which seems to be the problem as it was working before that. So I first had to download a new version of this as when I tried to play my old (V8) embedded shockwave director game it told me I needed to install V11 player. This was slightly fiddly in itself (for Mac).

Then I tried to play the game and it is now coming up with a Director Player error saying...

"This application requires an Xtra (Havok Physics Scene) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s)".

When you click ok it then says...

"This Shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems. Please contact the author of this content regarding this problem. Shockwave is unable to continue."

So I am stuck!

Is there something I can change in the embed code to get this working again? I have crawled the internet to find a solution but cant find it anywhere.

Only thing I can find is to add in the playerVersion ie <PARAM name=playerVersion value=10> but this is V8 I want to embed so it doesnt seem to make any difference.

Here is the link to the game... http://www.kelloggs.gr/kelloggsland/...etahchase.html

Does anyone have any experience with this?
