The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Have to use fully qualified links, DreamWeaver MX is getting confused!

Asked by bswiftly in Adobe Dreamweaver

Ok, I'm not a web designer so I'm totally new to DreamWeaver MX.

I have a problem with it validating links on my site.   It is getting confused because of how I have it set up.   I have my main ISP website, that has a frame on top, and a frame on the bottom.. the bottom frame is actually the main page hosted locally on my machine. (so that the address bar doesn't change, and so that I can give people an external URL without giving out my IP address (even though i don't really care if they see it).

So, I have a link in my main page.. in the frameset of the main page on my site, that dictates what page is on the bottom and top frames of my site. (so now we have 2 sets of framed pages..one at the ISP, and the one on my site).

This is my code:    <frame src="/MainSite/Menu.htm" name="topFrame" scrolling="NO" noresize >

This is what it is telling me " C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MainSite\MainSite\Menu.htm does not exist"

On my local site, I have to reference everything from the root, even in the file /MainSite/PhotoGallery/thumbs.htm for example.. I would have to link to link to an image htm file from the /MainSite/PhotoGallery/ etc.   instead of just linking to /image.jpg.

I just ignore the warnings that it is giving me, and it works fine.  I assume this is because the main site is actually remote so it needs the fully qualified names.   Is there a way for me to tell DreamWeaver not to worry about it? Or to let it know what I'm doing?

OR... better yet..  is there a better way to do exactly what I am doing here, but in a different way?

Thanks for your help!
