Thanks!!! I knew it had to be something simple like that.

Browse All TopicsHow do I find and replace special characters in Dreamweaver for source code? If I use regular expressions I can match special characters (ie: \r\n), but I can't replace with special characters.
For example, if I wanted to remove newlines from my code I could do:
FIND: \r\n
REPLACE (empty)
Use Regular Expressions: on
However, if I want to replace semicolons with newlines:
FIND: ;
REPLACE: \r\n
Use Regular Expressions: on
This does NOT work! When I replace the semicolons I get \r\n in the code instead of a newline. why? How come I can match special characters, but I can replace with special characters?
Any ideas?

Hi,
Dreamweaver lets you enter linebreaks into both boxes by keying SHIFT+ENTER. IIRC this can be invoked with Regular Expressions on or off.
