apache installation

I have an apache installation problem.  When installing again Apache (latest version) after a major computer breakdown and configuring Apache in same way as before, I get a request for username and password when testing the installation with http://localhost.

I would be very grateful to you to let me know how I can get rid of this irritating request. I am completely blocked in my work. I did NOT set any username and password in the apache configure files.
