Webserver vs Web Application Server.

I need referene info for a presentation to be made at office that very clearly brings out the difference between a web server and a web applications server.

1. What is a web server.

2. What is an applications server and then again what is a WEB applications server.

3. What necessitates the need of a web applications server, if u already have a web server.

4. What is it that only a web applications server can achieve that a web server can't (THIS NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT OUT VERY CONVINCINGLY ABOVE ALL).

5. When exactly will an organization need a web applications server.

6. Since I believe a most web servers come inbuilt with a web server, why would an organization need a separate web server like APACHE or IIS.

IMPORTANT : The links provided in response MUST contain comaparisons of both technologies and not write ups of each in separated links. In the latter it is very difficult to understand how one is different from the other.
