The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Web Development - capturing userID in a Windows2000 network environment

Asked by herbalizer in Web Development Software

I am developping a survey on an intranet.
The network is set up on a Windows2000 platform.
Each user obviously connects to the network using a login name and a password.

I want each user to be able to fill in the survey only once.  I need to retrieve the userID of the person when he/she access the survey on the intranet and compare it to a list of userID already created in Microsoft Access.  The Access table would have 2 fields : userID, accessed_flag(empty).  Each time a user would access the form, a command would verify if the "accessed_flag" has been checked.  If no, then it would allow the user to fill the form.  Once done, it would put a check mark in the "accessed_flag" field beside the corresponding userID.  It would also save the form information in an Access table located on a shared server.  If the "accessed_flag" field is checked when a user tries to access the form, then it would allow the user to fill the form but would save the information in a different location, say a trash folder on the same shared server.

The web site uses ASP script.

There should be simple lines of code that can be integrated to the html code to retrieve the userID of the person logged in.

Which application (Visual Basic, etc) can I use to achieve that, and what is the code to produce the result mentionned above??

Thanks
