Hibernate session close

Session session = getSession(true);
                  for (Object inst : instances)
                        if (inst != null)
                              session.saveOrUpdate(inst);
session.flush();

From the above code should i explicitly close the session? session.close() or flush takes care of it?

Also, tell me if this session different from jdbc connection?
