Sad that you have not worked with HP Service Test. I selected to use this tool because we have it inhouse already and my manager interfaces with it via QC. So I hope I can make this tool to work for what I need.

HP Service Test or SoapUI Pro
Might as well ask this question while I am reading up on HP Service Test. Both of these products are commercial pay for web service testing tools. Obviously you know this. If I have to pay for either of them, which one would be best and why?
HP has always been expensive, at least this is my thought.
I would think that I could interface with Java code using HP Service Test, but is this true or false, and why?

I have not worked on HP Service test but as from thier data sheet

it looks like a good enough tool, with ease of use.
but coming to SOAP UI its a very good tool for load testing, also allow you to edit the complete soap message which you want to sent (which few tools won't, like lets say I want to add a special header in my soap msg), very simple tool, supports WS-Security Usernametoken, reporting is good enough, stable, I have worked only on the open source version of it and usability is good if you get used to it.
I think it has support for Groovy script using which u can automate the test case execution which may be required in most of the testing scenarios.
