Joomla Comparison to DNN and Joomla Functionalities Enquiry
I am starting a website using Joomla and I want to find out any similarities it has with DotNetNuke (DNN) in terms of functionality. I have very good knowledge of DNN so I would appreciate it if someone could answer the following questions regarding Joomla so that I can observe differences/similarities.
" Main Menu: We want to have a Horizontal or a Vertical Main Menu. How do we switch from a Vertical Menu to a Horizontal one?
" Sub Menu: We want the SubMenu to work when you rollover a mouse over and not when you click on a Menu item
" Multiple Languages: User should be able to switch to a different language by using a single button. Is their a way where duplicate pages are created automatically for 2 different languages? How do you
" Speed: We want to make sure that the speed of the site is much faster using Joomla rather than using DNN
" Add pages: How do you add pages?
" Add Text modules: How do you add text modules?
" Updating Content: Is updating Content done faster with Joomla rather than updating with DNN?
" Register users: Option for registering users?
" Account Login: Option for user login?
" Banners: Is it easy to add banners?
" Documents: Is it easy to add documents?
" Events: Is it easy to add events?
" FAQ: Is it easy to add a FAQ module/page?
" Links: Is it easy to add a Links module/page
" Users/Roles: How to you add users?
" Roles: Can you add roles and how do you give them the appropriate roles to specific users?
" Permissions: Can you select which pages can be viewed/edited by specific users i.e. Administrators, All users, Registered Users, Subscribers, Unauthenticated Users or specific Registered users?
" Uploading Files: Can you upload files through the website and through ftp?
" Max File Size: What is the maximum size file you can upload on website?
" Templates/Skins: Can you upload new templates and skins on website for Admin to select? Does Admin have option to select different templates and skins for different pages or different text modules?
" Page Containers: Can you upload new page containers on website for Admin to select? Does Admin have option to select different page containers for different pages or different text modules?
" Date Settings: Can Admin select start and end date for a page to show?
" Copy Design: Can you copy the design of a page to other pages e.g. descendant pages?
" Copy Permissions: Can you copy the permissions of a page to other pages e.g. descendant pages?
" Newsletters: Is there an option to send Newsletters to users?
1) Is it easy to upgrade to a new version of Joomla in the future? (we are hosting in GoDaddy)
2) More importantly, what is there in DNN in terms of functionality that Joomla does not have it?
