Hi,
The website statistics tools calculate the traffic from the logs of the website which is created for every website on the server.
You can get the path of the logs file through the IIS> website > select website >properties > website tab > website logging option
If it is enable then the website statistics tool read the log file and generate the report.
If you have the Awstats statistics application for the stats then you can get the website config have the log file to generate the stats.
You can also manage what should your log file contain the information in the IIS > website > properties for the all websites >website tab> logging and advanced Here you can enable which you want to log in your website logs and after that the stats software generate stats from that log file.
