The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Website activity monitoring

Asked by ScorpioUltima in Web Site Statistics Software / WebTrends, Web Browsers

Working at a private college who have 3 sites, each site is independent of the others with its own server and domain etc. Servers are all Windows 2003 standard (Not SBS) with no ISA server. In each case the Internet access is provided via a Netgear DG834 router. Each user connects to the Internet via the Netgear which is the default gateway for each PC/Server

The college wants to see which websites are being visited by which users and for how long - pretty standard stuff but I'm having trouble finding something cheap and cheerful that does the job. Additional machines (To act as proxy servers) are out of the question due to cost. On another site I used EZSnoop but that has been discontinued, I have also used Activity Monitor but that is too expensive for them (And does far more than is needed), any suggestions for a cheap and cheerful application that can run on each PC but save logs to a server for centralised access. We do not need to monitor email (We have an application that can do that although we do not use it currently), we do not need to block sites (Can already do that as well) and do not need to capture keystrokes or applications launched - we just want to capture WHO (Username, not IP address) is visiting WHICH website for HOW much time!

I have looked at IEHV but that is a little too basic for us - need something better than that but not as powerful as a lot of the (Expensive) applications which do far more than we need. Also, some of the users have Firefox, Opera or even Chrome installled - I suspect that means we need to look at a hardware solution, guess I kinda answered my own question!Start Free Trial
