tracing a blogger
Is there anyway to trace an IP address from a web forum. i want to find out if a person posting is a sales person or a real customer raving about a product. I have a feeling that it is sales people in disguise.

Some forums capture the IP address and include it with the user data in the sidebar. Unless this forum is one that does that, you won't be able to get it from a posting on someone else's forum.
You may be able to contact the forum administrator and express your suspicions/concerns, but it's up to that person to take any action. You could also challenge the person in the forum itself, but once you put it out there you can't take it back, and flame wars are generally distasteful.

Do you have this IP address, or are you looking at how to get it? If you have it, the best you can do is do a whois by IP: http://www.networksolution
It will only come up with something if the company is listed as it's own service provider. Otherwise, there's really no way to tell.
