The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need good framework for web app (plus tell me why I should use one!)

Hey Everyone,

Got a question, a major one.  I'm hoping to hear from people who have actually used a web framework to create a web application of some sort (whether it's forums, an application, whatever).

I've been programming with C#/.NET for a year and a half now so I'm partial to using it.  I also realize that I want my web app up as soon as possible so why not cut my dev time a bit if I can help it.  I can't reveal details, but the front page won't be a blog, but needs blog like functionality (i.e. update "news" every day), display advertisement(s).  Then the community aspect kicks into place.  We hope to build a community with a forum (though hopefully we can use a theme/skin to drastically change the design aspect of it); normal forum functions: login, register, different categories to post under, advertisement, and something like a "tip of the day".

Could I use .NET and build everything from scratch? Sure, why not.  But is there something out there that's flexible and powerful enough out there?  DoNetNuke's main page says "DotNetNuke is the leading web content management and application development framework for Microsoft .NET."  How does DotNetNuke (or other frameworks) help me with a web app?

I've never had to use one and I've never created my own social web app.  I mean, I create web apps using .NET for my workplace.

Anyway, tia, and looking forward to reading the answers!
