SQL works in Access, but not in ASP

my query works fine in MS Access, but won't work on my ASP page.

here's my SQL statement:

SELECT DISTINCT Message_Contents.Message_ID, Messages.Message_Subject
(SELECT TOP 1 Message_Contents.Message_Date
FROM Message_Contents
WHERE Message_Contents.Message_ID=Messages.Message_ID) AS Message_Date,
(SELECT TOP 1 Messages.Message_Subject
FROM Messages
WHERE Message_Contents.Message_ID=Messages.Message_ID) AS Message_Subject,
(SELECT TOP 1 Message_Contents.User
FROM Message_Contents
WHERE Message_Contents.Message_ID=Messages.Message_ID) AS User
FROM Messages INNER JOIN Message_Contents on Messages.Message_ID=Message_Contents.Message_ID

when i use it, i get the following error:

"The SELECT statement includes a reserved word or an argument name that is misspelled or missing, or the punctuation is incorrect."

any ideas?
