The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Asp-Database Interaction

Asked by VKSajeev in Active Server Pages (ASP)

Ok guys I have a problem at hand that is bugging me for sometime.
I have a DB called Home_page_display
In this I have columns named Headline,Link and Date alongwith others. Now let me explain what all this is.

Headline contains news headlines,
Link contains the corresponding links for the news items,
Date contains the respective dates of the news.

Now at a time i will pick up latest 18 headlines for 3 days (6 each for a day) and display it in a html page.

Now I have a search option whereby people can select a date and search for the news headlines. Now some conditions:
If a person doesnt enter any date value in the textfield provided for that(as is the case when the page loads first) the present day's date has to be used for the search. Now I dont have news items for Saturdays and Sundays. So depending on the date given the search should automatically choose the previous "working" days' news items. For eg: if the date entered is that of a Monday it should have 6 items for Monday on the top and then 6+6 items for the Friday and Thursday.

I hope the problem is clear to you.Can someone come up with a code for this?As of now the connection to the server is established,no problems in passing the date from the textfield to the server also.I just cant get the logic right to cater to the above conditions.

If u have any doubts regarding the problem do pour in them to me.Please help me out as soon as possible.
