change pending orders status

i have a report that displays all the pending orders...
what if i want to add a feature to enter order# in the same page which displays all pending orders..then the matched record will be highlighted,
where i can change its order status .....

i am finished with the report(list of all pending orders) but how to do the rest..or if u have a better idea..

i've created very simple asp pages.. one will read the order# and the other one will check its validity then will update the record in the database .. i mean change the status from pending to canceled or approved

but my question was.. if u have a better idea.. to do it
