ordering by first date

Hi

I wondered if you could help me. I think what I have here is a simple syntax error...

I have a form which selects courses within a certain date period according to the users choice. I want my query to grab the first date of each course within that period.

The database is constructed like this..

COURSES

cid
title
location
etc...

DATES

cdid
cid
startdate
enddate

Each course may have mutiple date sessions against it in the database so it runs one to many. My query so far is...

dateFirst = strFirstMonth & "/" & strFirstDay & "/" & strFirstYear
dateLast = strLastMonth & "/" & strLastDay & "/" & strLastYear

SELECT c.cid, c.title, c.location, c.venue, c.duration, c.archive, (select d.coursedate) from dates d where (d.coursedate >=#" & dateFirst &"# ) AND (d.coursedate <=#" & dateLast &"#) as final"
" FROM courses c"
