The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. URGENT: cookies: how persistent they are?

Hi,
I'm working with a site that resides on a host whose provider doesn't allow me to use session variables (they are useless as for load balancing reasons the site pages are hosted on multiple hosts, so they are suddenly lost). So I tried to replace them with ASP cookies. The annoying fact is that when I move from one page to another, suddenly also request.cookies suddenly disappear. So this are my questions:
1. afak cookies should only expire if and when their expiration date is set accordingly. If the expiration date is not set, are they "eternal"?
2. if the site is framed, are there serious possibilities that cookies are lost moving (that is clicking on links or redirecting)from a page with frames to another? Or from inside a frame to the top page?
3. ASP cookies are something different from javascript cookies? Or they are the same thing and then are interchangeable (that is javascript can access ASP cookies and viceversa)?
