The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Basic ASP code stub

Hi there,

I have a process which is currently controlled from a VBScript. The process just writes a line to a log file.

I want to put it in a web page as opposed to a VBScript.

Its a *long* time since I've done any ASP, so can anyone help with some ASP (basically everything between <HTML> and </HTML>) that does the following:

1. Displays a basic message and a button
2. On Click of the button, runs the code below
3. Right at the end of the VBScript, effectively press the 'back' button in the browser

I am happy for it to only work in IE

FYI, the main part of the VBScript is below

Sub Main()

Dim iMsgResult

Call Initialise

If ProcessIsRunning Then
  ' ---Process is running as it is not complete---
  Call MsgBox("The job is currently RUNNING:" & Chr(13) & Chr(13) & sControlFile,64)
Else
  ' ---Process is not running (as it is complete)---
  iMsgResult = MsgBox("The automatic job is not currently running." & Chr(13) & Chr(13) & "Press YES to start it now" & Chr(13) & "Press NO to see the prior log and exit",36)

  If iMsgResult = 7 Then ' No
    ' show last log and exit
    Call MsgBox("Prior Log:" & Chr(13) & "----------------------------------------------------------------" & Chr(13) & sControlFile,64,"Prior Log")
    Exit Sub
  End If

  Call StartProcess
  Call MsgBox("The job has been started. Check the log to see the job status.",64)
  '============================
  ' Want to click 'Back' here if possible
  '============================
End If

End Sub
