Can't step into Windows Script Components from ASP while debugging (WinXP SP2 / IIS 5)

My company's web solution involves classic ASP and lots of windows script components (WSCs). I recently upgraded my development machine from Windows 2000 Server (why did I have Server? don't ask) to Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.

No complaints except that when debugging my IIS scripts, I can no longer step from ASP into a script component call. Therefore, I can't debug script components.

(see bottom of message for what I've already tried)

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM

On my old machine, I would (using Visual Studio .NET 2003 as my debugger) break on a line of classic ASP, and step forward until I was on a call to a script component method. I would press F11 to "step into", and voila, a new window would open with the script component's code, and I'd be stepping through that.

(Clarification: my own machine holds a copy of the entire web solution - therefore, this is not remote debugging; I am stepping through the server script on my own machine.)

(Clarification 2: it *does* work from cscript command line - just not from a running ASP script)

Now on XP, even when I specify "step into", it always steps over the WSC call. So annoying, especially when I know there's an error in the component method that I could find so easily if I could just step in.

WHAT I'VE ALREADY TRIED

1. Making sure IIS website and all virtual directories leading to the ASP making the WSC call are "Low (IIS Process)".

2. In Component Services, set the acting user of "IIS Out-of-Process Pooled Applications" from IWAM_MYMACHINE to my own logged in account (which has local admin access).
