The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

recordset page question

Asked by -Dman100- in Active Server Pages (ASP)

I have a stored procedure that returns a recordset and the record count information so I can page through my recordset 10 records per page.

In my stored procedure, I use a where to clause to filter my records based on search criteria that is passed in via post.

Basically, my select statement as follows:

SELECT * ( I actually use the column names, but used star for simplicity)
FROM mytbl
WHERE (1=1) AND (MODE < 2) AND (LOGICAL_DELETE IS NULL) + @strSQL

strSQL is passed in via the post and just adds additional AND clauses to filter the recordset.  All this works fine.

My question is, when I first return the results, strSQL is passed through the post, but when I page the next set of records, the post is empty and I need to pass strSQL via the querystring.

I'm on a company intranet and security isn't a big concern and I'm not passing the entire sql statement just additional AND clauses.

In my link that pages to the next or previous set of records I would have:

a href="results.asp?page=<%=icounter%>&strsql=<%=strsql%>"

As an example, the actual querystring would look something like:

results.asp?page=1&strsql=%20AND%20(ABR_AY)

I was trying to use replace to remove %20 from the querystring value.  But, should I be using Server.URLEncode?

How would this work?

Thanks for any help.
