Email/SQL Injection prevention

Forms on our website were recently attacked by hijackers and thousands of emails were generated, information was entered into databases and our intranet site was broken into.

I want to make sure this kind of thing wont happen again and do everything I can to guard against it. I have done some research into what I need to add to the site to secure the information passed back and forth from the databases. I have added some regular expression validation to block characters but this is not enough.

From the research I've done, I realize this is not a small task and I'm looking for some expert help in impletmenting a solution. I would like to know what others are doing and what code they are using. I've looked into parametrized queries, stored procedures and encoding data and am feeling a little overwhelmed by it all right now as I do not fully understand how to use any of it.
