The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

noob question about Default.aspx dealing with a portal website (asp & dotnetnuke)

Asked by dannymyung in Active Server Pages (ASP), Web Languages/Standards

Okay, I've made several websites and know my way pretty well around HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript. My friend emailed me the other day and was wondering if I could help them with updating their website which has a dotnetnuke framework with asp and all of that. I went to his website, right-clicked, and viewed the source -- everything comes up and I can see all of the code that I'd need to change to do the updates that they want. So, I tell them no problem and I can do pretty much whatever they want to the site.

They give me all of their login information and I FTP to the site and download all of their stuff locally so I can edit it. I also log into the site through the control panel and it allows me to edit basic text, but they want me to change colors of the buttons and a lot of other things, things which I can't seem to edit through the web interface. Now, I'm looking for the main Default.aspx file that I looked at when I right-clicked the site and realize that on the web it's pointed to /home/tabid/37/Default.aspx but when I FTP to the site there is no "home" directory. Is the way I'm trying to do things impossible with all of this portal and module stuff? If not, what am I doing wrong? For a regular website (regular meaning can be hand coded with HTML) the changes they want done I could do in probably an hour, but I've been sitting here for the past 4 hours confusing the heck out of myself with all of this. Please don't be too harsh on my noobness...but I'm really confused. If someone could just give me a brief explanation of how all of this works that would be great. I've looked around on w3schools.com and a couple other places but am still scratching my head.
