The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need to split a flat text file into a database..help!

Asked by electricd7 in Active Server Pages (ASP)

Hello,

I have a flat text file that is basically test questions and multiple choice answers.  The first line is the question category and answer, the next lines are the actual question, then the next 4 lines are the choices (A, B, C, D).  The next line is blank and denotes the end of that question.  Here is an example of 2 questions as they are organized:

E1A01 (B) [97.301(b)]
What exclusive frequency privileges in the 80-meter band are authorized to
Amateur Extra Class control operators?
A.  3525-3775 kHz
B.  3500-3525 kHz
C.  3700-3750 kHz
D.  3500-3550 kHz

E1A02 (C)  [97.301(b)]
What exclusive frequency privileges in the 75-meter band are authorized to
Amateur Extra class control operators?
A.  3775-3800 kHz
B.  3800-3850 kHz
C.  3750-3775 kHz
D.  3800-3825 kHz

Basically what I want to do is split the entire text document into a database table with field 1 being the E1A01 part, field 2 beign the (B) (or answer) part, field 3 being the [97.301(b)] portion, field 4 being the question, field 5 being choice 1, field 6 is choice 2, field 7 is choice 3 and field 8 is choice 4.  The entire document is organized like this and there are always 4 choices.  I would like to use FSO or something to open the document and split it up and then a standard insert statement to get it into access.  Please help!  I have attached the entire file for viewing if needed.
