The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Creating A Form
Tags: microsoft, Active Server Pages
I would like to create a form that I can upload to my GoDaddy account, and access on a web browser.  The form will ask simple questions that the user can type in.  Then once they hit the SUBMIT button, the data that they typed in will be emailed to TWO email addresses.  My email addresses so that I have a copy of the date, and another email addresses of the individual requesting the data from these users.

How do I go about doing this ?

javalinuxcode,

You can do this with either one script page (i.e. form submits to itself) or two.  I can help with specifics if you need once you specify how you want to do that and let me know the details you need.

Make the form portion.  This could even just be all HTML or you can use ASP script to write the html.  In the action attribute of the form tag either put this file name or the second page you make.

The second page is the key.  What mailer objects can you use with your GoDaddy account?  Do they have sample script to show you how to use them with their server?  This can be important to get to cut out guess work since they may need some specific server setting, etc.  They should be able to provide this to you.

On the second page after you validate the form info you will first send one email and then the second.  You can make the email body, subject, etc and store them in variables before sending either message so you can easily send both.  Create the mailer object just once and you can reuse it after sending the first.  When you have the To: part in each object just use one email at a time, unless you want to send them both at once.

This is general info to get you started.  If you need detailed help pick which part you want to work on here and provide the info so we can help with it.  Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

well here is what I want the form to look like....

a simple page....with just :

FIRST NAME :

LAST NAME

PHONE NUMBER :

ADDRESS 1

ADDRESS 2

CITY

STATE

EMAIL ADDRESS :

NOTES

and then there will be the SUBMIT button that will do 3 things (if possible)......

1. send the data to my email address

2. send the data to my associates email address

3. go to a database so that I can keep up with the data......

p.s. forgive me for not mentioning about the database in my initial request ....

p.s.s.    if you click on this link :

<a href="http://www.emailmeform.com/fid.php?formid=81662" target="_new">Contact Form</a>

you will see what I create on a website called : www.emailmeform.com

I want an extra field called notes, and like I mentioned before when the user clicks on the SUBMIT button....the 3 things I mentioned above will take place

I tried to email you at  ******  is that your correct email address ?

Thanks for the reply and info.  It helped.  I will still need for you to find out what type of email object (i.e. the mailer) you can use if you want help with those steps.  GoDaddy has a few different accounts (and I don't think the clearest explanation of them) so I am not real sure what you can use.

Keep in mind that we aren't just here working for EE (and thus you) as coders.  The experts, moderators, and admins are all volunteers.  What you have is a fair sized project.  We can help as you run into problems with steps or even help you do a step but more in the way of answering questions and providing info than just coding, etc.  I notice you are somewhat new to EE so this was probably something not real clear.  Hopefully this info helps but let me know if anything isn't clear. :)

Do you have any of the html or ASP done?  Do you just have a question for a part of it?  If not which part do you want to work on here?  You can then open up other question for other parts or questions if you need.

For the database part you will need to let us know what type of database.  You can hopefully get sample connection strings from GoDaddy too since those will depend on the server, database, etc.  If they have that info it will save a lot of guessing.

What was it you were going to email to me?  I removed the email address you posted in the comment above.  It is against the EE rules to post real email addresses in comments.  Also we need to work on your question using the comments here.  It would leave other experts out and defeat the purpose of the site if we were to start swapping emails and using them to work on this. :)

By the way ... I actually didn't take a close look at the email address you asked me about but the first part is my member name here.  Make sure you use the number zero in the 2 places where you may have put the letter o.  If it failed that may have been the reason.  However you should be able to post info and upload files just in this question.  Let me know if there was something else you needed to do and wanted to use email.

Thanks again for the info you have provided.  Let me know what I can help with here or if you have a question about anything I have said.  It is an interesting project you have here so it should be fun to help you with it.

bol

p.s.  If you just want the whole thing done for you then you should look at hiring a coder.  Many experts here will do work like that on the side (I have at times) and can be contacted directly if they have their info in their profile.
