Question

How do you structure a filename and copy using ASP?

Asked by: irwinpks

Hello,

I've attached working code into the snippet.  What I would like to do is copy a pre-existing file "no_image.jpg" that sits inside the folder /data/images and rename it to "X_00000_no_image.jpg."  Where "X" is the value m_count.

What is the ASP code to use?

Thank you in advance,
irwinpks

@hielo

This is what I got

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0414'

Cannot use parentheses when calling a Sub

/question_set_add.asp, line 45

fso.MoveFile( Server.MapPath("/data/images/no_image.jpg"), Server.MapPath("/data/images/" & m_count & "_00000_no_image.jpg") )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^

by: hieloPosted on 2008-07-25 at 21:32:03ID: 22093725

Then remove the first ( and the last ):
fso.MoveFile Server.MapPath("/data/images/no_image.jpg"), Server.MapPath("/data/images/" & m_count & "_00000_no_image.jpg")

@hielo,

OK, got rid of those ()....no error now, but the file is not created.  The folder is WRITEabled.

the /data/images folder accepts uploaded files

Change:
Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

to:
Set fso = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

if the issue remains unresolved, then verify the existence of the file. If your site is:
http://www.somedomain.com, it is looking for:
http://www.somedomain.com/data/images/no_image.jpg and attempting to rename it. Obviously, if it does not find the file, then nothing will be renamed.
