The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How can users log into my site w/ another site's credentials?

Asked by Livingod in Active Server Pages (ASP), JavaScript, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

I wish to create a website in which certain parts can be accessed by, for example, MySpace, Hotmail, or Facebook members, or whatever.

This is what I want happening:
Let's say it's Facebook, (you can also check the attached flowchart)

1. People visit my site's homepage.
2. They log into my site with their Facebook email and password.
3. My site checks their email/password with Facebook. (This is where I need help.)
4. If the email/pass is wrong, my site redirects them to a "Wrong user pass" page and discards the information. Back to step 1.
5. If the email/pass is right, my site checks its email/pass database.
6. If the email/pass is not in the database, my site automatically creates an account for them w/ their Facebook user pass. Skip to step 8.
7. If the email is in the database but has a different pass, my site updates their password in its database.
8. If the email/pass is in the database, they are redirected to a restricted portion of my site where they can waste hours of their life.

I would prefer I code this in HTML, but I have an ASP ASP.NET server so those will work too. And of course Java is always an option. But unfortunately my server doesn't support PHP. So, anyway I can do this? BTW, I use Microsoft Expression Web 2, but I also have Adobe DW, so any Expression Web or DW shortcuts are appreciated!Start Free Trial
