Hi,
See here : http://technet.microsoft.c
IIS is pretty limited in Vista home depending which version you have. The best would be to install Home Premium if it's not what you have.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a few web apps developed using classic ASP - I am gradually converting the sties to ASP.Net but cannot find a way to run the Classic ASP scripts using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express (Vista Home os). I have some sites developed using Classic ASP which I'd also like to demo on my laptop to customers but can't find a way of doing this without converting my laptop to a server - surely there's a simple way?
Thanks
Lorna

Thanks sybe and Jonthemoon - I'm not using Visual Studio just the free Visual Web Developer 2008 Express and Vista Home Edition. Sybe: I have installed IIS as per your instructions, however I cannot find the IIS Manager. I can find my way to services and it's in there and is 'started' but how do I access the IIS Manager as presumably I need to set the website I wish to demo as the default one??
As I mentionned earlier, you have to have at least Home Premium to have IIS. Is it what you have or do you have Home Basic?
If you have Premium, follow this link and you should be good to go! http://www.howtogeek.com/h
Lorna.
You jumped to quickly on giving up and awarding points for something
That was un-resolved.
You cannot use IIS on XP Home (or) Vista Home Basic (Without tweaks, not supported on EE)
BUT, you can go a different route and use another hosting software to do the deed for you.

The reveiws that I read from 1 re-tired server developer states that he
Runs the program on Vista Home Basic and it runs like a charm.
There is 2 downloads:
FREE (No limitations, Educational use only)
&
Pay (Professinal $59.99)
Hope this helps, and next time, make sure that you have all available options given to you prior to giving up and awarding points for information that was un-helpful to you and it is mis-leading to others that have similuar issues as you have here.
If you find this information useful, the best thing to do is to re-open this question and accept the answer that best suites your needs.

IIS does not need a server. Just install IIS.
