Split String ASP

Need help splitting string like one below. for example, I need  to display only the information after the last "_" ( blackbelt.jpg ) however all the data is variable in length .

I have the data in a loop  can I do it this way?

<%=(Ubound(split(rsPhoto_Upload("FileName"),"_")))%>
If so why does it return the number 4 ?

it returns 4 because that is the last array item's index.

you would need to do like this, but this is wasting resources, as you split 2 times:
