The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem with margins in IE6 (compared to Firefox)

Asked by DanBAtkinson in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Tags: corefm, problem

Hi there,

Explaining will be pretty hard to do so I'll show you two pages which I've uploaded...

http://www.dan-atkinson.com/test/corefm/index.php
http://www.dan-atkinson.com/test/corefm/index2.php

The first is a page I'm making but without the original code I used to get it to work in Firefox.
Having done some quick sums about how much of the page I'd used, I set:

margin-right:75%;

This is illustrated by the second URL which uses the exact same CSS file as the one on the first page exact for the line above inserted for that particular div.

This did the trick for Firefox (which is exactly how I want it) but alas, this wasn't so for IE and you can see by looking at the second page in it.

Is there any CSS I can use to fix this so that it works in both Firefox AND IE6?

CSS and HTML source is easily available but for ease, the CSS for the left menu area followed by the main (content) area:

div.leftmenu{
float:left;
width:20%;
background-color:#FFFFFF;
color:000000;
}

div.content{
margin-right:25%;
float:right;
width:55%;
background-color:#FFFFFF;
color:000000;
}

Any help regarding this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
