The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Table-set Issue: How can I force all available vertical white-space into the bottom of 3 cells, when an adjacent 'colspan' column contains lots of data? (See Example)

Asked by hotapp in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

Tags: , , ,

How can I force all of the available vertical white-space that is generated by expanding a table cell with lots of data in it (via an existing JavaScript call) that spans across 3 cells that do not have much data.

Currently that extra vertical white-space is evenly distributed across the 3 cells, but we instead need to have it ONLY be applied to the bottom of the 3 cells  .... basically forcing the top to cells to take up only the MINIMUM vertical white-space possible.

See Example:
http://www.appfire.com/posts/tableset-issue-01.html

Note that when you click on the link to Expand the "Right Feature Area", the resulting extra vertical white-space on the left is evenly distributed across the "Title", "Content", and "Footnotes" cells. We instead need to have ALL the resulting vertical white-space on the left be displayed within the "Footnotes" cell and none of it to be displayed within the "Title" or "Content" cells.

Also it is very important to note that we are completely unable to change the underlying Table Structure itself, as it is part of a 3rd party software solution that we are locked to. We need a creative solution that can be implemented via CSS, JavaScript or other creative ideas.
