The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help With CSS Layout

Asked by clickclickbang in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

CSS Experts,

I need a CSS layout that would consist of three divs spanning 100% in width and 100% in height (of the page). The width isn't an issue, but the height is a challenge. I need the top div to be a static 30px in height and be flush with the top of the page. I need the bottom div to the a static 30px in height as well and be flush with the bottom of the page. Last, I need the middle div to be stretch from the bottom of the top div to the top of the bottom div. If there is more content in the middle div than room allows, I need that div to scroll the content.

Hope this is possible! Please let me know if I am being unclear or if you need any other details from me. I need this to be cross-browser compatiable for FireFox, IE6+, and would like Safari as well.

Here is some initial code I was playing around with:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Size Tests</title>
<style type="text/css">
<!--
body
{
height:100%;
background:#ff0000;
margin:0px;
}
#top
{
width:100%;
height:30px;
background:#ff99ff;
}
#middle
{
width:100%;
min-height:100%;
background:#00ff00;
}
#bottom
{
width:100%;
height:30px;
background:#ff99ff;
}
-->
</style>
</head>

<body>
<div id="top"></div>
<div id="middle"></div>
<div id="bottom"></div>
</body>
</html>

Thanks for your help!
