Browse All TopicsI am curious about making a dynamically adjusted background for a website. What I'd like to do is have a standard background image. Then create an image that looks like curtains on each side. I'd like the curtains to stay on the left and right edges regardless of the resolution or browser size. The images also have to stay in the background. If there are multiple ways of doing this, please describe the pros and cons of each way.

Since the multiple background images on a single element feature of CSS3 is not widely supported yet, you will need to use three elements.
The outermost container (either <body> or a <div>) will get the "standard background image" then inside that will be two other <div>s each with a non-repeating (or at least not horizontally repeating) background image of the curtains. You can then use the background-position property to place the background images where you want them.
