Why isnt my css lining up?

Hi I am looking to create a site that is css and has a simple template. I need a box thats 640x480 with a left and right header a content below and a footer

I need something that looks like this

I created this page

The two id div tags are left and right I would expect them to layout as in the graphic of the first link
The target browser is firefox 2.0.0.14 running on a linux box.
