The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. show horizontal scroll bars on shrinking window

hi there; i have a <div id="inner"> inside <div id="outter">.

 <div id="inner"> has a variable width.

the containing div has a border and ( <div id="outter">) is the width of the browser window.  in other words, as the browser window shrinks, the outter div shrinks with it.

my issue is, in firefox specifically, that when the browser window is shrunk and it reaches the size of the inner div, the inner div content overlaps, or extends, outside of the outter div's bordered area.

for example, if the inner div content is 500px wide and the outter div is 100% of the browser window (say, 1000px) once the window is shrunk to 490px wide, the inner div now sticks outside of the outter div and no horizontal scroll bar appears (in firefox).

what i would like to happen is for the horizontal scroll bars to appear when the outter div reaches the same size (or smaller) than the inner div.  this behavior is occuring in explorer but, again, not firefox.

hope that's clear.  any suggestions?
